Additional Learning Needs
At Spittal C.i.W. School, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive primary school; we welcome all children, regardless of need or ability and strive to quickly identify those who require further support and provide targeted interventions and provision to meet their needs. We believe that all our pupils deserve the best start in life and want them to be supported and challenged to meet their full potential.
All staff are aware of ALN within the school and receive high quality information and training. We are a fully inclusive school and work alongside the Local Authority, health professionals and community organisations to find the most appropriate and effective support for children within our care.
Due to first-hand knowledge and experience of specific children, class teachers are usually in the best position to support your child with the learning tools and strategies needed to succeed. However, should you feel further advice and support is needed or you require information relating to specialist services available, then please contact our school ALNCo (Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator), Mr Gordon Gibbens.
As part of our inclusive school, we offer a variety of support mechanisms within the school and with external agencies:
- Access to Dyslexia Screening tools and support
- Referral on to school provision, such as ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)
- Behaviour Support
- Support from the Pembrokeshire County Council Inclusion Service
- TAF (Team Around The Family)
- Parent Partnership
